Plentiful Time – A Poem by Lucy Hermitage

                                                    The boiling of the kettle is
                                                    Ample time
                                                    To prepare the bag and cup.

                                                    The toddler only learns to
                                                    Wriggle
                                                    Once we have perfected care
                                                    Of its still self.

                                                    Nail polishes take their
                                                    Beautiful time
                                                    To dry – allowing that minute
                                                    Of rest.

                                                    The credits
                                                    On a cinematic film
                                                    Allow enough time for even the slowest of guests
                                                    To leave with background music.

                                                    Toast Toasts
                                                    Leaving time for butter
                                                    And a knife.

                                                    Plenty of time
                                                    In plenty of time.
